10 Ways to Make Damper

I’m sure you know how to make this tasty bush bread, it’s only flour, water, and a pinch of salt, right?

The ten videos below all share one thing in common, they all show you how to make a damper. They all have their own unique way to make this Aussie icon.

But no matter what ingredients or how you make it, the end result is always the same.

Swagmen, drovers, stockmen and travellers traditionally prepared this bread. The damper was made with plain flour and baking powder and then it was baked in the coals of a campfire. Self-raising flour is used today as it already contains raising agents and it’s cooked in a camp oven.

Damper is easy to make and only requires self raising flour, salt and water.
