While these Cheese Burger Pull Apart Scrolls take a bit of time to put together, they are totally worth it.
This recipe was submitted by the Gourmet Camp Chef – Jon Riley’s a retired Chef, He’s hoping to inspire and excite you to try cooking something more adventurous than the norm on your next trip.
Directions for the Pizza Dough
Step One Mix the flour, sugar, salt and yeast together in a bowl.
Step Two mix your water and olive oil together in a container.
Step Three Slowly add the water and oil mixture into the flour and mix to a dough. If it’s a little sticky add a little more flour.
Step Four Work the dough and knead it for 7- 10 minutes.
This activates the gluten in the flour making a better dough. Cover with a tea towel and place near the fire for 30-45 minutes to prove.
TIP: If the suns out during the day put it in a black bin bag with a splash of water in the bag and place in the sun.
Directions for the Mince
In a frypan, fry of the onions and garlic once softened add the mince and dried oregano and brown off until you get the mince nice and Caramelized.
Assembling the cheeseburger pull apart scrolls
Step One
Roll the dough out to a rectangle.
Step Two spread tomato sauce and American mustard over 3/4. Layer with cheese (I used Jarlsberg cheese) add the mince and then bread and butter pickles.
Step Three Roll up, cut into 8 even rounds. Line a springform tin with baking paper, stand scrolls upright and tuck them in together. Leave for 30 minutes to reprove the dough.
Step Four Cook in the camp oven for 25-30mins on medium heat. Half a shovel under and on top. Check every 10 minutes and adjust cooking heat and time accordingly.
