Restoring your cooking plates is the same process as seasoning a camp oven with a hooded BBQ.
How do you clean a rusty Ozpig?
I often see people asking how to clean a rusty Ozpig. Just like cooking a chicken, there are so many ways you can do it. Below we cover three main ways using a grinder, sandblaster and Molasses.
Three ways to clean a Rusty Ozpig:

How to clean rusty Ozpig cooking plates
Note: This guide is a fundamental overview of the steps to restore your Ozpig cooking plates.
Step 1. Tools you need!
Today we are using a wire brush on the grinder. However, you can also use the molasses or sand blasting method.
Step 2. Remove the rust!
Using the grinder clean off the rust with a wire brush or a flap disc.
NOTE: Making sure that you take the surface back to bare metal.
Step 3. Wash the Cooking Plates!
Step 4. Seasoning the cooking plates
Its time to season the cooking plates, to do this cover the plates all over with a light coat of cooking oil. Once covered with this thin layer of oil, heat the plate until it smokes, then remove it from the heat and wipe off excess oil with paper towel. Repeat this step 2 or 3 times. This can be done on top of the Ozpig, Hooded BBQ or in the home oven.
