In recent years camp oven cooking with heat beads has become a popular method for heating your camp oven, and that’s mostly because most places have banned campfires or have tight restrictions on campfires.
Notice: Heat beads are a Brand, and Briquettes are the “product”, people often refer to Briquettes as Heat beads which can cause some confusion with people.
Regulating the heat of your camp oven is something everyone starting with camp oven cooking has trouble with, like anything the more you practice, the better you will get.

Theres a lot of discussions about this, and every one has there own opinion on this, they all do there job well however some will last longer then other brands, its recommended to test out different brands until you find the brand of briquettes you prefer.
You can store them in the bag they come in, in a cool dry place.
Tip: a plastic bucket with a tight-fitting lid would be the best option for storage as they need to be stored in a cool, dry place and not exposed to any moisture.

I loosely use the divide method*, if my oven is 12inches (9Quart) across the top, I would use 24 Briquettes, using less on the bottom and more on the top, this would be for baking/ roasting as you require top and bottom heat placement.

*I can’t stress enough these are just a guideline, and you will still need to adjust as needed to get the optimal temperature you are wanting.
